What is scaling in Ethereum?

Implementing scaling solutions is advanced as the technology is less battle-tested, and continues to be researched and developed. This method of scaling requires changes to the Ethereum protocol (layer 1 Mainnet ). Sharding is currently the main focus for this method of scaling.

Why do we want to partner with Ethereum community points?

Our intention is to help accelerate the progress being made on scaling and develop the technology needed to launch large-scale applications like Community Points on Ethereum. The scaling technology developed through this partnership will be open-sourced and publicly available for anyone to use.

What is Ethereum sharding?

In an Ethereum context, sharding will reduce network congestion and increase transactions per second by creating new chains, known as “shards.” This will also lighten the load for each validator who will no longer be required to process the entirety of all transactions across the network. What is Reddit's partnership with the Ethereum Foundation?

In many ways, this collaboration started with the Scaling Bake-Off that we hosted in this community with the Ethereum Foundation. In this new stage of our partnership, immediate efforts will be focused on bringing Ethereum to Reddit-scale production.
